The AOCS Annual Meeting is known worldwide as the premier forum for the fats, oils, surfactants, lipids, and related materials industries, with the goal of continuing the advancement of scientific knowledge

The highlight of the meeting is the expansive offering of technical material, with 700 presentations in 15 different interest areas that attract professionals of all levels. Between technical sessions, the AOCS Expo will serve as the gathering place for Annual Meeting attendees, where more than 85 companies from across the world will showcase a wide variety of functions and development in the fats and oils industries.

Also featured will be “The Forum on Emerging Technologies,” which will encompass global discussions on matters that affect the future of our industries. These informative sessions expand beyond the science to address how current critical issues impact the business of fats and oils.

Two special sessions are included in the 2013 Annual Meeting. The focus of The Professional Educators’ session is “Effective Use of Statistics in Lipid Teaching Research” which will be held on Monday, April 29. The following session, held Tuesday, April 30, is The Bruce McDonald Memorial Session: “Advances in Canola Research” will be led by Dr. Holub, Director of Scientific Affairs and Information for the DHA/EPA Omega-3 Institute and University Professor Emeritus at the University of Guelph’s Department of Human Health & Nutritional Sciences.

Several networking opportunities throughout the meeting encourage delegate interaction, including receptions, common interest groups, and AOCS Division and Section activities that give attendees the opportunity to meet industry colleagues.

Attendees also have the opportunity to expand their knowledge through four pre-meeting short courses also held in Montréal. The one and two-day short courses run Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28.
