ENOC refinery expansion to be completed by 2019

Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) will expand the capacity of its Jebel Ali refinery by 50% or 70,000 barrels per day (bpd), the company announced. The expansion will be completed by the fourth quarter of 2019.

The project, which will boost capacity to 210,000 bpd, from 140,000 bpd, will cost more than USD1 billion and will be implemented in three separate packages.

The main package includes adding a new condensate processing train and additional processing units. The other packages involve the construction of storage tanks and a 31,000 square foot warehouse.

Technip Italy has won the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract. The Front End Engineering Design (FEED) was completed by KBR in the United States. The technology licensors include UOP, Axens and KT.

Saeed Al Tayer, ENOC vice chairman, said that the project was key to meeting the future needs of Dubai’s energy infrastructure sector.

The refinery, which was built in 1999, was previously expanded in 2010.
