Eni returns to F1 with Renault and Alpine F1 as partners

Eni, Renault Group, and BWT Alpine Formula One Team have announced a new strategic partnership, marking Eni’s return to Formula One after more than two decades. The collaboration aims to drive sustainable mobility solutions and explore advancements in bio-gasoline technology for motorsport.

As part of the agreement, Renault Group and Eni will explore joint business development opportunities in electric mobility infrastructure, smart mobility services, and energy supply solutions. A key milestone of this initiative is the acquisition of Renault vehicles by Enjoy, Enilive’s car-sharing service.

This partnership also signifies a historic reunion between Eni and Team Enstone, last seen in Formula One with Benetton in 2000. Flavio Briatore, executive advisor at BWT Alpine Formula One Team, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “It is with immense pride that we welcome Eni back to Formula One with BWT Alpine Formula One Team. Eni formed a great part of our history at this team and has also, in the past, been an important partner in Formula One. We share common goals and objectives, especially in regards to energy efficiency, sustainability, and future bio-gasoline products. To have them back on board at BWT Alpine Formula One Team is great and we look forward to doing many exciting things together in future both on and off the track.”

Eni branding will be featured on the A525 race car, as well as on driver race suits, helmets, and pit-stop crew attire throughout the 24-race season. This partnership extends beyond branding, as the companies will collaborate on fuel technology innovation to develop bio-gasoline for high-performance racing.

Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group, remarked, “When it comes to developing innovative solutions, nothing can beat the combined expertise and skills of great companies. That’s why I’m so thrilled about this partnership we are striking with Eni, in F1 and also to explore new opportunities for shared and efficient mobility. Together, we have the potential to push boundaries.”

Pioneering sustainable motorsport

Eni, a leader in energy transition and decarbonisation, is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. This partnership aligns with its mission to accelerate the shift to sustainable transport, particularly through renewable energy, bio-refining, and advanced fuel solutions.

The unveiling of the A525 race car featuring Eni’s branding will take place at the F175 Launch Event at the O2 Arena, London, on 18 February 2025.
