ENEOS, XING Mobility partner on immersion cooling systems
ENEOS Corporation and XING Mobility have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the joint development of immersion cooling battery systems. The strategic partnership, announced on 13 December 2024, marks the first such agreement between the two companies.
Immersion cooling systems, which directly immerse battery cells in insulating fluid, are gaining traction as a solution to thermal management challenges posed by increased heat generation in high-output and fast-charging batteries. Compared to air or indirect liquid cooling, immersion cooling offers superior efficiency, enhanced safety, and longer battery lifespan, making it a sustainable alternative.
ENEOS brings extensive experience in immersion cooling technology, particularly through its ENEOS IX Series launched earlier this year for data centres. Leveraging its lubricant development expertise, the company aims to create innovative cooling fluids tailored for battery systems.
XING Mobility, a leader in immersion cooling technology since 2015, has proven the efficacy of its systems across applications such as vehicles, industrial machinery, and energy storage. The partnership will combine ENEOS’ fluid expertise with XING’s application experience to address battery cooling challenges for a variety of industries.
The collaboration supports ENEOS’ commitment to sustainability and carbon neutrality, as outlined in its Long-Term Vision. Together, ENEOS and XING Mobility aim to drive innovation and contribute to a greener future.
