Dow Corning launches new noise-damping lubricating grease

Dow Corning Corporation, a global leader in silicones, silicon-based technology and innovation, has introduced a new Molykote brand noise-damping grease specially formulated to perform under extreme pressure at high frequency.

Molykote G-1074 grease, which has the ability to address noise-control challenges across a range of automotive systems and applications, including chassis and brake, exterior, and interior, will make its public debut at the 34th Annual SAE Brake Colloquium & Exhibition in Scottsdale, Ariz., U.S.A., Sept. 25-28, 2016.

Molykote G-1074 grease, which uses poly alpha olefin basestock (PAO), is suitable for lubricating common metal, plastic and elastomeric substrates. Formulated with additives that enable it to perform under high loads, it also has excellent noise-damping properties and a broad operating-temperature range (-40 to 150ยฐC). In testing, Molykote G-1074 grease outperformed competitive greases in noise reduction, friction reduction and performance under extreme pressure at high frequency, according to Dow Corning.

“Dow Corning continues to aggressively invest in NVH solutions. Noise and vibration control is becoming increasingly important in all automotive system designs as engineers look for new ways to not only enhance user experience and vehicle comfort but also enable connectivity now and into the future,” said Marjorie Dwane, automotive global market manager for Dow Corning.

“Earlier this year, we introduced a family of low-bleed noise-damping greases. Now Molykote G-1074 grease, with its added capabilities to perform under extreme pressure at high frequency, extends our offering of smart lubrication solutions for automotive and industrial noise control.”
