DAF Trucks and TotalEnergies partner on zero-emission transport
DAF Trucks N.V. and TotalEnergies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to accelerate the transition to zero-emission road transport. The partnership will leverage DAF’s expertise in truck manufacturing and TotalEnergies’ leadership in sustainable mobility solutions to support the European Union’s CO₂ reduction targets.
The agreement focuses on three key areas:
- Optimising charging solutions – Researching ways for DAF customers to maximise the use of TotalEnergies’ charging network and roaming services.
- Developing Megawatt Charging Systems (MCS) – Advancing ultra-fast charging infrastructure for electric trucks, with pilot projects to refine future solutions.
- Reducing emissions at DAF sites – Implementing low-carbon energy solutions at DAF production facilities to lower Scope 1 and 2 CO₂ emissions.
Harald Seidel, president of DAF Trucks N.V., stated: “DAF sets the benchmark in battery electric vehicles, which have an emission-free range of up to 500 kilometers on one charge. The MoU is increasing the possibilities to accelerate the transition to sustainable transport solutions.”
Mathieu Soulas, senior vice president of New Mobilities at TotalEnergies, added: “This partnership shows that TotalEnergies can offer concrete solutions to reduce the CO2 emissions of its customers’ fleets. We need these kinds of pragmatic collaborations to make the energy transition possible.”
With increasing demand for sustainable transport solutions, the partnership signals a major step towards a low-carbon future for road haulage in Europe.
