Chevron Oronite celebrates 60 years of COJL in Japan
Chevron Japan Limited (COJL), a joint venture between Chevron Oronite and Nomura Jimusho, Inc., recently celebrated its 60th anniversary. The company is marking the occasion by recognizing the many technological advancements that have resulted from the company’s strong presence in Japan as well as acknowledging the contributions of its workforce to advance lubricants and fuel additives worldwide.
“This is a significant milestone for us as we mark six decades of excellence in Japan, and we look forward to celebrating many more as we continue our journey,” said Colleen Cervantes, president, Chevron Oronite.
COJL is the only full-scale and wholly integrated additive company in Japan with a blending facility in Omaezaki as well as a dedicated research and development facility that includes engine and bench test labs to support customers’ needs now and into the future. The facility is also the home of Chevron Oronite’s Asia Pacific Center of Excellence for automotive and power transmission oils/fluids, and Global Center of Excellence for motorcycle. An office supporting sales and various support functions is located in Tokyo.
Task Toyono, president, COJL, reflected on the benefits of the company’s strong presence in Japan over the years and what lies ahead. “Our proximity to Japanese lube marketers’ headquarters and central labs as well as original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) has helped facilitate close relationships over the years which we greatly appreciate. We are also proud that our research here in Japan has become so integrated into Oronite’s global technology advancements across many product lines. As the world continues to evolve, our people will continue to be the foundation for success on our continuing journey.”
