Chevron launches Rykon high-performance grease in Asia

Chevron has introduced its Rykon grease product line to the Asia-Pacific market, expanding on its successful launch in North America last year. Developed to meet the rising demand for high-performance, heavy-duty lubricants, the Rykon range offers a sustainable alternative to lithium-based greases, which have become more costly due to global shortages.

Rykon greases are calcium sulfonate complex-based products, designed to excel under extreme pressure and in harsh environments. With variants including Rykon EP 2, Rykon HD 2, and Rykon HD 2 M5, the new range targets industries such as mining, construction, agriculture, and forestry, where equipment longevity and performance are crucial.

Sheryl Law, general manager for Marketing & Sales Support at Chevron, highlighted the significance of the new line. “As equipment evolves to operate faster and under harsher conditions, superior lubricants are essential. Rykon offers a high-quality, durable solution that reduces downtime and boosts productivity across industries,” she said.

Performance-proven technology

Field tests at the Jackson Valley Quarry in the U.S. state of California demonstrated Rykon HD 2 M5’s performance under demanding conditions. A wheel loader, operating for 10 hours daily in extreme summer heat, reported a 30% reduction in grease consumption over six weeks, with no leakage or mechanical issues.

The Rykon range offers several key benefits:

  • Superior oxidation and thermal stability
  • Outstanding resistance to water washout, ensuring protection from contamination
  • Extended lubrication intervals, reducing maintenance costs and downtime

Availability and market impact

Chevron’s decision to introduce Rykon grease in Asia reflects the region’s growing need for high-performance lubricants. Customers can access the new range through Caltex distributors, ensuring easy availability across multiple markets.

This launch aligns with Chevron’s mission to provide sustainable, high-quality lubricant products for industrial applications, while also helping customers reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
