CFMOTO and TotalEnergies launch joint lab for lubricant innovation

TotalEnergies and CFMOTO, a Chinese manufacturer of powersport vehicles, including motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), side-by-side utility vehicles (UTVs), and other off-road vehicles, officially inaugurated their “Technical Cooperation and Joint Laboratory” recently. This collaboration aims to enhance the development of advanced lubricants and energy solutions for motorcycles and other vehicles.

Key highlights of the cooperation

The partnership between TotalEnergies’ ELF brand and CFMOTO began in 2010. Over more than a decade, TotalEnergies has become CFMOTO’s most trusted oil supplier, collaborating extensively in various fields, including motorcycle racing. The joint efforts of both companies’ management teams have culminated in the creation of this joint lab, which will focus on solving technical challenges and accelerating project development.

Bright Xiang, vice president of Automotive Oils at Total Lubricants (China) Co., Ltd., emphasised the joint lab’s role in addressing technical problems, enhancing vehicle energy efficiency, and developing racing oils and electric vehicle lubricants. This platform will foster in-depth research and cooperation in various fields, ultimately aiming to standardise oil products and innovate within the automotive industry.

Yang Donglai, deputy general manager of Zhejiang CFMOTO, highlighted the importance of this partnership in strengthening their technical team’s capabilities and improving engineers’ expertise in lubricants. The cooperation agreement marks a substantial step forward for both companies, setting the stage for future developments and innovations.

Senior representatives from both companies attended the signing ceremony and toured the product production line, gaining insights into the production processes and quality control systems. This visit laid a solid foundation for ongoing cooperation. The unveiling of the joint lab marks the beginning of a new era of collaboration, with TotalEnergies committed to providing CFMOTO with top-tier products, services, and technical support.
