Castrol partners with Certa for streamlined Irish distribution
In a strategic move to enhance its distribution network, Castrol has named Certa, a division of DCC plc, as its exclusive country partner for both Ireland and Northern Ireland. This collaboration is set to optimise the delivery of Castrol’s extensive product line, which includes lubricants, greases, coolants, and other specialised fluids, across the automotive, industrial, marine, and energy sectors.
The partnership is poised to simplify the procurement process for customers throughout the island, consolidating multiple distribution channels into a single, efficient point of access. This change aims to bolster customer service and account management, streamline online product information, and accelerate the order fulfillment process.
With a legacy spanning over a century in Ireland, Castrol’s roots trace back to C.C. Wakefield & Co Limited, established in London in 1899. The company’s historical ties with Ireland date to its first international office in Dublin.
Certa, Ireland’s premier fuel distributor, boasts a robust network of 52 forecourts and 27 fuel depots, employs a workforce of 340, and serves a customer base exceeding 100,000. Annually, Certa delivers over one billion litres of fuel. Since 2016, Certa has been a distributor of Castrol products, and its elevation to the role of sole distributor marks a pivotal chapter in its corporate narrative.
Vesna Di Tommaso, Castrol Europe’s CEO, remarked on the partnership’s significance, highlighting the shared commitment to innovation and support for a diverse clientele amidst rapid industry evolution. Certa’s established brand-building expertise and market penetration are instrumental to Castrol’s ongoing efforts to expand its presence in Ireland.
Echoing this sentiment, DCC Energy’s CEO, Fabian Ziegler, expressed pride in the enduring association with Castrol across the UK and Europe. Ziegler emphasised the partnership’s alignment with DCC’s vision for energy transition leadership and sustainable solutions, a vision Castrol reciprocates.
This agreement aligns with the European launch of Castrol’s brand refresh, a global initiative extending into 2024. The updated branding will be visible across product packaging, service partnerships, facilities, and marketing campaigns, encapsulating Castrol’s unique market position and its commitment to addressing the evolving demands of its clientele.
