Castrol and Schneider Electric launch data centre cooling lab in China
Castrol and Schneider Electric have opened a state-of-the-art liquid cooling technology co-laboratory in Shanghai, China, marking a significant step in their strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to drive innovation and provide new solutions for the rapidly evolving data centre cooling market.
The new co-laboratory will serve as both a customer demonstration centre and a hub for benchmark liquid cooling projects, focusing on addressing the growing technical challenges in data centre cooling. Key issues, such as compatibility between cooling liquids and devices, along with improving heat dissipation, will be tackled through joint research, development, and product testing.
The collaboration combines Castrol’s advanced cooling liquids with Schneider Electric’s data centre infrastructure, including the Cooling Distribution Unit (CDU), power supplies, and server racks. Together, both companies will further explore integration and compatibility testing to ensure the stability and safety of the combined products. This will provide one-stop liquid cooling solutions for data centre operators worldwide.
Peter Huang, vice president of Thermal Management at Castrol, said, “In the era of AI, the construction of liquid cooling infrastructure in data centres is developing rapidly. Through our strategic partnership with Schneider Electric, we will offer end-to-end solutions for the construction, operation, and maintenance of data centres, from server room hardware to cooling fluids.”
The partnership aims to foster the safe and energy-efficient development of future-ready data centres, supporting the rapid growth of AI, machine learning, and cloud computing technologies.
