Utility Service Partners, a HomeServe Company, Serves as a Conference Sponsor of the National League of Cities’ City Summit
City of Phoenix Presented Leadership Award for Participation in
NLC Service Line Warranty Program
NORWALK, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#CitySummmit–Utility Service Partners, a HomeServe Company (USP), is a proud sponsor
of the 2017 National League of Cities’ (NLC) City Summit Nov. 15-18 in
Charlotte, North Carolina. The City Summit brings together leaders,
experts and industry to showcase collaborative solutions to the
challenges facing local government, including the infrastructure issues
important to America’s cities and towns.
Since 2010, USP has partnered with the NLC to help America’s cities and
towns address aging infrastructure in their communities. The National
League of Cities Service Line Warranty Program, administered by USP,
educates homeowners about their service line responsibilities while
providing an affordable solution to help residents avoid the often-high
cost of repairs to the water and sewer service lines that connect homes
to the municipal systems. The program is currently available in
over 450 cities and towns across the country.
On Wed., Nov. 15, USP hosted and sponsored the NLC New Member and City
Summit First Time Attendee Breakfast. At the breakfast, HomeServe CEO
Tom Rusin recognized the City of Phoenix as the 2017 Leadership Award
recipient. Since Phoenix launched the NLC Service Line Warranty Program
in 2012, close to 26,500 residents have signed up for a service plan.
Residents using the plans have saved more than $2.2 million on water and
sewer service line repairs all of which were completed by local Phoenix
area plumbing contractors.
“By participating in the NLC Service Line Warranty Program, the City of
Phoenix is providing its residents with a valuable tool to protect them
against the high cost of home emergency repairs. We commend city leaders
for their proactive efforts and appreciate the opportunity to provide
Phoenix residents with the highest level of professional repair service
available,” Rusin said.
The breakfast featured a video testimonial from Phoenix resident, Edward
Nieland, who had a sewer line repair this year that would have cost him
$2,500 had it not been for the program. Because he had a repair plan
through the NLC Service Line Warranty Program, Mr. Nieland avoided the
inconvenience and financial burden that comes with this type of
unexpected repair.
USP will participate in a variety of other sessions and special events
throughout the four-day NLC conference including:
-
Thur., Nov. 16: USP will present a session titled “Getting the
Lead Out: Improving the Safety of Water and Sewer Infrastructure.”
Speakers include Jade Dundas, Interim City Manager of Asheville, North
Carolina; Jermaine Reed, Kansas City, Missouri Councilmember; and Jim
Hunt, Former NLC President and the Founder of Amazing Cities. -
Fri., Nov. 17: USP will conduct a focus group of city leaders
to discuss ways to strengthen the NLC Service Line Warranty Program to
ensure it is meeting the needs of NLC member cities. Also on Friday,
USP will sponsor the Member Council Tailgate Party and the Young
Municipal Leaders Network Reception.
