T&D Equipment Market in India 2017 – Research and Markets
DUBLIN–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The "T&D
Equipment Market in India 2017" report has been added to Research
and Markets' offering.
The line length at the transmission level is projected
to increase and the demand for power transformers is expected to
increase over the next five years.
The key drivers are integration of renewable energy, shift towards
higher voltage systems and upgradation of existing infrastructure. The
total transmission tower market between 2017-18 and 2021-22 is estimated
at over 3.5 million tonnes (high tension and mild steel). Total
conductor demand is estimated at around 1.7 million tonnes for the same
period. Almost 75% of this conductor demand will be at 765 kV and 400 kV
voltage level. Meanwhile, the demand for switchgear will come from the
additional bays required in the substations.
Distribution Equipment Market
As per the research, the country's distribution lines and transformer
capacity are expected to grow by over 2.5 million ct km and 500,000 MVA
in the next five years (2017-22) driven mainly by increasing demand,
various government schemes, rural electrification and increasing
reliability needs. The demand for distribution poles and conductors to
support this increase in distribution lines is estimated at 48 million
and 8 million km between 2017-18 and 2021-22. Meanwhile, demand for
energy meters is expected to be almost 200 million to meet the demand
for new connections and technology upgradation.
