Reliant Gives to Donate $100,000 to Texas Nonprofit This Holiday Season
—Public Voting Open November 27 to December 3—
HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#ReliantGives–Reliant’s crowdsourced charitable-giving program, Reliant Gives, kicks
off this holiday season of rebuilding in Texas in a big way. Now in its
fifth campaign and the first after Hurricane Harvey, Reliant Gives
provides the public with a unique opportunity to give back through the
simple click of a mouse.
Online voting begins November 27 and is an easy way for people to
support organizations that continue to provide assistance to those
impacted by Hurricane Harvey. During the holiday season, charities
across the state are tasked with providing an increase in resources, and
for them, this Reliant Gives campaign could be the most important yet.
“The aftermath of Hurricane Harvey has illuminated the strength and
resilience of the Texas spirit. Now, more than ever, Texas-based
charities of all sizes have shown their unwavering passion and
dedication to the communities they serve,” said Elizabeth Killinger,
president, Reliant. “Reliant Gives is empowering three organizations
that have proven to be ‘Texas Strong’ during this season of recovery and
rebuilding.”
Reliant employees nominated and selected these three Texas nonprofits as
finalists for the chance to receive a $100,000 donation.
The three finalists are:
-
Casa
de Esperanza de los Niños, or the House of Hope for Children, is a
safe place for children in crisis due to abuse, neglect or the effects
of HIV. The Houston-based nonprofit provides residential care and
coordinates medical and psychological services according to the needs
of each child. -
Kids’
Meals delivers free healthy meals to the doorsteps of Houston’s
hungriest pre-school aged children, and through collaboration,
provides their families with resources to help end the cycle of
poverty. Kids' Meals is a first-responder to children ages five years
old and younger facing debilitating hunger due to extreme poverty. -
Operation
Kindness is the original and largest no-kill animal shelter in
North Texas. Its mission is to care for homeless cats and dogs until
each is adopted into a responsible home while advocating for humane
values and behavior. The Dallas-based shelter never turns an animal
away and has saved the lives of nearly 90,000 homeless animals since
1976.
This Reliant Gives campaign is just one more way Reliant is lighting the
holidays in Texas this year. Online voting opens Monday, November 27, at
noon (12 p.m.) CT and runs through Sunday, December 3, at midnight
(11:59 p.m.) CT, with the results announced Tuesday, December 5. The
public can cast their vote for one of the three nonprofits an unlimited
number of times by visiting reliant.com/vote.
The nonprofit with the most votes at the end of the voting period will
receive a $100,000 donation, and the other two nonprofits will receive
$20,000 and $10,000, respectively, based on the number of votes they
earn.
To date, Reliant Gives has donated nearly $500,000 to 12 deserving
nonprofits between spring 2016 and spring 2017, positively impacting
nearly 125,000 lives.
