Owens Corning to Support Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. Program to Build Custom Smart Homes for Wounded Veterans
TOLEDO, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Owens Corning will donate insulation and roofing products for 10 homes
to be built by the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. program (Restoring
Independence Supporting Empowerment). The program provides fully
customized, specially adapted smart homes to ease the everyday burdens
of severely wounded veterans and their families and caregivers.
Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. program was established to provide
these veterans and their families with the resources to overcome their
new life challenges. The Gary Sinise Foundation is committed to helping
wounded heroes increase their mobility and reclaim their self-reliance
by designing and building custom homes from the ground up.
“Helping to provide safe and efficient housing is one of the primary
goals of the company’s charitable giving,” said Don Rettig, community
relations director, Owens Corning, and president, Owens Corning
Foundation. “This partnership marries that goal with directly helping
several American heroes. We are privileged to be a part of it.”
“We are honored that Owens Corning has chosen to support our R.I.S.E.
program and the brave, resilient American heroes we help,” said Gary
Sinise Foundation Executive Director Judith Otter. “Gary Sinise
Foundation’s specially adapted smart homes are so much more than just
conventional houses, and with the extra benefit of being built with the
highest quality materials, they really can become our veterans’ forever
homes.”
Owens Corning will invite its network of independent insulation and
roofing contractors to participate in building the 10 homes, a unique
opportunity for them to give back in their local communities as well.
