GI Energy Names Tony Amis as Senior Vice President of Sales

Leading expert on multi renewable solutions involving energy
foundations and heat pumps will support company’s expansion of
sustainable energy efforts

CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today, GI Energy (GIE), North America’s leading provider of on-site
energy and micro grid solutions, is excited to announce Tony Amis has
joined GIE in the newly created post of senior vice president of sales,
according to Thomas Chadwick, GIE’s chief executive officer.

“Tony Amis is a recognized expert in multi renewable solutions
involving energy foundations and ground-sourced heating and cooling
solutions,” Chadwick said. “His expertise will be a tremendous asset
to GIE as the company continues to expand
its leadership in major sustainable energy projects in the United States
and beyond.”

Chadwick pointed to GIE’s recent construction of the geothermal heating
and cooling system at Cornell University’s Cornell Tech on Roosevelt
Island in New York City as the type of renewable energy project Amis
will drive and support for GIE going forward. GIE’s system at Cornell,
the first of its kind in the United States, pumps water from 80 wells
drilled onsite to depths of 400 feet to provide the
building’s total heating and cooling requirements. GIE, which is
constructing a similar system at Google headquarters in Mountain View,
California is the market leader for developing heat pumps in large
commercial buildings across the United Kingdom.

Amis will join GIE’s Chicago headquarters from the U.K., where he has
spent more than 15 years developing a variety of heating and cooling
systems, as well as multi renewable energy solutions for projects at
offices, retail complexes, hospitals, universities and public sites.

Amis, 52, has served in technical sales and business development posts
at Geothermal International Ltd. in Coventry, U.K., since 2008, where
he has been business development director since 2010.

He previously served in engineering, construction management, business
development and operations posts for a variety of construction and
engineering companies in the U.K., Hong Kong and Singapore.

Amis holds a master’s degree in construction project management from the
University of Greenwich.

He has published numerous articles on the effective use of building
foundations for heating and cooling purposes, and is the current
chairman of the Energy Pile Committee of the Deep Foundations
Institute, based in Hawthorne, New Jersey.

“GIE is indeed fortunate and proud to welcome Tony Amis to our team,”
Chadwick said. “He brings globally recognized credentials and
experience in the increasingly important fields of heat pumps and
energy foundations to GIE’s expanding sustainable energy efforts.”
