ENGIE-Subsidiary Green Charge Installs Its Largest Single Site Behind-the-Meter Energy Storage System at Quidel Corporation Headquarters in San Diego

SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#ENGIEGreen
Charge
, an ENGIE Company, today announced that leading diagnostic
healthcare manufacturer Quidel Corporation (NASDAQ: QDEL) has deployed
1.5 MWh of energy storage at its San Diego Manufacturing Facility.
Quidel is a provider of rapid diagnostic testing solutions,
cellular-based virology assays and molecular diagnostic systems. The
Green Charge energy storage system is expected to save nearly $500,000
over the 10 years of the contract. Green Charge showcase their energy
storage solution at Energy
Storage North America
(ESNA) August 8 through 10 in San Diego Booth
405.

“We have implemented several money saving efficiency measures at our
headquarters but found that the promise of energy storage will
significantly reduce our utility bill,” said Scot McLeod, Senior Vice
President of Operations from Quidel.

Green Charge was recently named the number one energy storage company by
Navigant Research and its systems are monitored, optimized, and
controlled through its proprietary software platform. The Green Charge
system includes GridSynergy® Storage, a customized indoor/outdoor
lithium-ion-based battery storage unit and GridSynergy Software,
providing visibility, analytics and management of energy demand.
Coupling a future PV system with energy storage, allows Quidel to smooth
out peaks and gaps in energy use and generation caused by facility
operations.

“The conditions are right for solar PV + energy storage,” said Vic Shao
CEO and Founder of Green Charge. “Regulators and utilities are changing
rate structures as distributed generation expands and energy customers
are seeking energy solutions that are not just ecologically sustainable
but also financially viable.”
