MILPITAS, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Efficient
Drivetrains, Inc. (EDI), a global leader in advanced high-efficiency
zero emissions hybrid and electric vehicle drivetrain solutions, today
announced the expansion of its EDI PowerDrive™ solution portfolio
to include additional models of all-electric drivetrains and full
vehicle electrification kits for commercial vehicles spanning class 4
through 8. The PowerDrive EV™ portfolio systems are offered as
electrification kits with corresponding developer support programs for
vehicle manufacturers moving to rapidly and cost effectively bring an EV
offering to the market.
As stringent anti-idle and emissions reduction mandates rapidly approach
for medium and heavy-duty trucks, buses, and specialty vehicles,
commercial fleet operators and vehicle manufacturers are turning to
electrification as a primary way to meet requirements. An extension of
the company’s existing EDI PowerDrive™ plug-in hybrid (PHEV) portfolio,
the EDI PowerDrive™ EV vehicle product lines and support programs enable
vehicle manufacturers to develop and manufacture their fully electrified
vehicles with significantly less time and expense in order to meet
industry requirements and growing market demand.
The EDI PowerDrive EV™ solution portfolio offers OEMs a robust and
comprehensive framework for rapid EV vehicle solution development.
Electrification kits include a high-efficiency drivetrain (EDI
PowerDrive™), vehicle control and telematics software (EDI PowerSuite™),
balance of vehicle electrification accessories, and the training and
support infrastructure to enable OEMs to drive quicker time to market in
offering commercial EV vehicles. OEMs can also further customize their
vehicle solutions with EDI’s Electric Power Export (Power2E™) option—the
capability to export a range of power directly from the vehicle for use
in disaster recovery, jobsite maintenance, tool operation, and other
applications.
EDI PowerDrive™ systems have previously been integrated onto numerous
OEM platforms in both the U.S. and China for applications including:
worktrucks, city and highway buses, port trucks, cement mixers,
logistics trucks, step vans, pickups, and SUVs. The new PowerDrive™ EV
product line extensions provide OEMs and upfitters with an expanded
range of vehicle electrification options featuring the latest
technologies available in the market. EDI’s optional Power2E™ 2 way
charging and power export options also allow vehicle providers to
fulfill requirements for vehicle to grid or jobsite power export
requirements.
