ConocoPhillips Supports Harvey Relief Efforts and Gulf Coast-Area Communities with $5 Million in Donations
HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP) today announced two key charitable donations
it is making to assist and support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts and
Gulf Coast-Area communities. The company increased its donation to the
American Red Cross to $2.5 million and announced a $2.5 million donation
to the United Way of Greater Houston. Throughout this event,
ConocoPhillips has taken multiple actions to address employee needs and
support their individual outreach efforts, including matching employees’
and retirees’ personal donations to eligible relief organizations.
“Our thoughts are with all of those who are dealing with the impact of
this unprecedented natural disaster,” said Ryan Lance, ConocoPhillips
chairman and chief executive officer. “Our priority remains ensuring the
safety of our employees and our operations. However, as members of a
much larger community that needs our help, we stand ready and willing to
do our part. We encourage others to follow.”
The donation will support relief efforts throughout the affected regions.
“The Red Cross works around the clock in extremely challenging
conditions to respond to disasters like Hurricane Harvey,” said Gail
McGovern, president and chief executive officer at the American Red
Cross. “We couldn’t do it without the generosity of our amazing donors –
like ConocoPhillips. With their support, the Red Cross can enable
communities to prepare for the unexpected, and when disaster strikes, to
respond with shelter, food and the necessary supplies to ensure people
are cared for and to help during the recovery process. We are extremely
grateful for their support.”
“We are deeply touched by the magnitude of caring and generosity of
ConocoPhillips and its employees whose support will help United Way
provide assistance to the thousands of individuals and families
across our region that have been impacted by this unprecedented
disaster,” said Anna Babin, president and chief executive officer of
