Allied Moulded Selects IQMS ERP Software to Gain 360-Degree View Into Manufacturing and Business Operations

Ohio-based manufacturer invests in IQMS integrated ERP and MES system
for real-time statistics, order information, and fulfillment
traceability across the shop floor and back office operations

PASO ROBLES, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#cloudIQMS,
a leading manufacturing ERP
software
and manufacturing
execution system (MES)
authority, today announced that Allied
Moulded Products, Inc. has selected IQMS to improve visibility across
its manufacturing and business operations. The manufacturer of
electrical enclosures is implementing IQMS EnterpriseIQ software, which
uniquely combines robust enterprise resource planning (ERP) and MES
functionality into one comprehensive system. The migration to IQMS from
its legacy system supports Allied Moulded’s drive to optimize operations
across its ISO 9001:2015 certified facility by providing a single source
of the “truth” that can be easily accessed by employees.

Based in Bryan, Ohio, Allied Moulded has been the contractor’s choice of
nonmetallic electrical boxes and enclosures in residential, commercial
and industrial markets for more than 50 years—growing to become the
benchmark of quality within the electrical industry. Today, its
fiberglass reinforced and polycarbonate enclosures can be found
worldwide in a range of applications, such as manufacturing plants,
waste water treatment, wind turbines, solar, home appliances, data and
telecommunications, marinas, and mining, among others.

Initially, Allied Moulded relied on a legacy ERP system that
sufficiently served the business’ general needs when it was purchased in
1999. However, after 18 years, the company ended up with 50-plus
ancillary programs bolted onto their existing system. As a result, the
IT department spent much of its time managing the multiple Microsoft
Access databases that contained some, but not all, of the ERP
information. At the same time, the legacy ERP system was not set up to
handle modern requirements of Internet-based interactions, such as
ecommerce, online credit card payments, and more complex electronic data
interchange (EDI) transactions required to be competitive. Finally, when
Allied Moulded was asked to pay for an expensive consulting project to
get an excess inventory report—a standard feature in most modern ERP
systems—the team decided it was time for a change.

Allied Moulded had looked at several software packages over the years,
but it decided to focus the evaluation on ERP vendors offering cloud
solutions. Then, after conducting extensive research, the company
selected IQMS for its leadership in technology innovation with its cloud
solution and integrated MES technology, as well as the ability to
interact with products that employees used every day, such as Microsoft
Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Outlook email. Most importantly,
because IQMS combines robust ERP and MES functionality into one
comprehensive solution—in which all data is managed by the same embedded
Oracle database—the company no longer would need to review multiple
databases to get visibility into its operations.

“The foremost advantage with IQMS software is having a single source of
the truth available from anywhere that has Internet access,” said Ben
Bucklew, CFO of Allied Moulded. “We will no longer be spending countless
man hours reviewing multiple programs, reporting and pulling data
extracts to know where our business stands. We will have one intuitive
interface to review real-time statistics, orders, and fulfillment
traceability. And we will be able to reach the information morning, noon
or night on our phones, tablets and personal computers. Plus, we will
have built-in sustainable reporting with the familiarity of Microsoft
Excel that any employee can easily obtain.”

Also important in the decision was IQMS’s role as a leader in the
plastics industry. Allied Moulded appreciated that IQMS understood the
challenges of plastics manufacturers, providing built-in solutions to
handle tool cribs, multi-currency, multi-company, mold tracking, quality
inspections, and many other processes important to the business.

“IQMS has certainly done its homework to learn the plastics industry and
has used its own software while doing so, which is brilliant,” Bucklew
noted. “We have confidence that IQMS really understands our business,
and it has eased our minds that support will continue after the
migration is complete. ERP customers deserve better, and IQMS is the
company that is committed to delivering it.”
