BorgWarner forms China JV for electric commercial vehicles
BorgWarner announced an agreement to establish a China joint venture with Shaanxi Fast Auto Drive Group (FAST), a China-based market-leading commercial vehicle (CV) parts supplier specialising in transmission and drivetrain systems.
The JV will develop high-voltage inverters to strengthen BorgWarner’s electrification portfolio for trucks, buses and off-road commercial vehicles.
“This supports our power electronics growth in electrifying the commercial vehicle market,” said Stefan Demmerle, president and general manager, BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems. “Our engineering presence in China enables quick product development.”
FAST Chairman Xuyao Ma said the venture combines their specialised expertise as electrification transforms China’s industry.
BorgWarner brings technological leadership and deep EV expertise. FAST offers commercial vehicle focus and customer relationships to accelerate adoption.
Subject to approvals, the joint venture is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2024. Headquartered in the U.S. state of Michigan, BorgWarner is a long-standing innovator powering the transition to greener transportation globally.
