Blue Tide Environmental appoints Terence McHugh as CEO
Blue Tide Environmental, a company focused on sustainable used motor oil (UMO) recycling across North America, has announced the appointment of Terence (Terry) McHugh as its new chief executive officer (CEO). McHugh, who joins Blue Tide with more than 25 years of expertise in energy and chemical sectors, brings valuable experience in global operations, refining, and sustainable fuels. His background aligns with Blue Tide’s mission to drive innovation in environmental sustainability through advanced recycling solutions.
David Cecere, partner at Tailwater Capital and board member of Blue Tide, highlighted McHugh’s extensive experience. “Terry’s deep expertise in refining, sustainable fuels, and business development, combined with his proven leadership in global operations, make him an invaluable addition as Blue Tide furthers its mission of providing innovative recycling solutions to the lubricants industry.”
Previously, McHugh served as vice president and global head of Hydroprocessing Catalysts at Evonik Corporation, where he was instrumental in growth initiatives and integrating Porocel International’s operations across multiple continents. His knowledge in catalyst technologies and environmental innovation is expected to support Blue Tide’s efforts to expand its network of UMO recycling facilities, including its flagship Baytown, Texas, U.S.A., facility, which produces Group II+ base oils through hydroprocessing.
McHugh expressed enthusiasm about his new role. “As a company at the forefront of innovation in used oil recycling, I’m thrilled to step into this role at Blue Tide,” said McHugh.
