Aramco expands into Pakistan with Lahore fuel station launch

Saudi Arabian oil giant Aramco has opened its first branded petrol station in Pakistan, launching in Lahore. This marks Aramco’s initial foray into Pakistan’s fuel retail market, following its recent acquisition of a 40% stake in Gas & Oil Pakistan Ltd (GO), one of Pakistan’s largest fuel and storage companies.

The new Aramco-branded station, part of a planned expansion, provides premium fuel, high-quality lubricants, automotive services, and a modern convenience store, aimed at enhancing customer experience and setting new standards in Pakistan’s fuel retail landscape. Yasser M. Mufti, Aramco’s executive vice president of Products and Customers, described this launch as a key step in the company’s growth strategy. Pakistan presents significant growth potential, Mufti said, adding that Aramco’s values of excellence, innovation, and community partnership will underpin this new venture.

Together with GO, which operates a network of more than 1,200 fuel stations across Pakistan, Aramco plans to increase its presence in Pakistan’s expanding economy. GO’s CEO, Khalid Riaz, welcomed the collaboration, stating it would elevate the quality and service standards for Pakistani customers.

Aramco’s entry comes as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia continue to strengthen trade and investment ties, following agreements that include Saudi pledges to expedite a USD5 billion investment package for Pakistan. The two nations also signed significant investment deals in 2019, covering sectors from energy to petrochemicals, further cementing their strategic relationship.
