Engr. Alonzo Silva Jr.​

Product Application Specialist, Asia Pacific, Shell​

Engr. Alonzo (Al) Silva Jr. is a highly experienced professional in the lubricants and power industries, with a career spanning over 25 years. For the past two decades, he has been an integral part of Shell, where he has held various significant roles. As a Lubricants Technical Coach in Southeast Asia & Oceania and a Lubricants

Technical Advisor in the Philippines, Engr. Silva has consistently demonstrated his expertise and dedication. Since 2019, he has served as the Product Application Specialist for the Asia Pacific region, where he continues to leverage his extensive knowledge and experience.

Before joining Shell, Engr. Silva spent seven years in the power industry. His roles included serving as a commercial engineer and a predictive maintenance engineer. During this time, he implemented critical Oil Analysis, Lubrication, and Thermography programs at a 1200 MW coal-fired power station. He also gained valuable experience as an intern at an 880 MW oil-fired thermal power plant.

Engr. Silva is certified by international bodies in Lubrication Oil Analysis, Thermography, and Vibration Analysis. He has also shared his knowledge as a former lecturer for the Noria Machinery Lubrication Course, contributing to the education and development of future industry professionals.

Beyond his professional life, Engr. Silva enjoys driving, riding, traveling, and engaging in DIY projects. His diverse interests and extensive expertise make him a well-rounded and respected figure in his field.

Minhao Wong

Dr. Minhao Wong

Lead Business Development Specialist, Base Oil, Chevron Singapore

Dr. Minhao Wong is currently serving as the Lead Business Development Specialist for Base Oils in the Asia Pacific and AMEP regions at Chevron, based in Singapore.

With over a decade of experience in the lubricants additive industry, Dr. Wong leverages his extensive knowledge to drive business growth and development. Before his current role, Dr. Wong held various positions at Chevron Oronite, including Account Manager, Market Manager, and Product Qualification Engineer, working in both Singapore and Japan. His professional journey also includes a stint at Kaneka Japan Corporation, where he worked as a polymer scientist.

Dr. Wong earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2013, specializing in polymer tribology and nanocomposites. Throughout his academic career, he has published numerous articles and filed several patents. He also holds a B. Appl. Sci. from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

His academic and professional background highlights his significant contributions to the field of base oils and lubricants, underlining his role as a key player in the industry.

Ernest Henderson

Technical Director, Base Oil and Lube Product, Pentas Flora SDN BHD

Dr. H. Ernest Henderson received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Windsor in 1977. He has had an illustrious 47-year career, starting with nearly 20 years at Imperial Oil and Exxon, where he was involved in research, marketing, logistics, and technical services on both domestic and international fronts.

In 1997, Dr. Henderson joined Petro-Canada as the Manager for Group III research and technical developments, and later became the Research Director at Syntroleum Corporation, overseeing Fischer-Tropsch GTL upgrading programs. His extensive career also includes roles such as Technical Manager for YUBASE Group III base stocks, Fluid Technology Manager for CITGO, and Director of Technology for Lubrication Technologies.

In 2011, Dr. Henderson re-launched K&E Petroleum Consulting LLC. His consultancy specializes in base stock management, strategic planning, new product and process development, supply chain management, formulation cost control, raw materials sourcing, patent litigation, and training. His expertise spans across all groups of base oils, including Group I, II, III, IV (PAO), and re-refined oils.

Dr. Henderson has been instrumental in aiding Pentas Flora in entering the re-refining business, developing process technology, base stock, and finished lubricant products. This includes the current Group I+ offering and the upcoming Group II+ base stock set for commercial release in September 2024.

He is a Fellow of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) and the Chemical Institute of Canada. Additionally, he is an active member and participant in various professional organizations, including SAE, API, AFPM, ALIA, BLM, ASTM, ICIS, and ILMA, serving as an author, speaker, moderator, panelist, and educator.

Dave Duncan

Global Product Line Director, Xinxiang Richful Lube Additive Co. Ltd

Dave Duncan currently holds the position of Global Product Line Director at Xinxiang Richful Lube Additive Co. Ltd, a role he has been in since November 2023.

Prior to this, Mr. Duncan had a distinguished career at The Lubrizol Corporation, where he spent nearly 27 years in various significant roles. From September 2020 to July 2023, he served as the Senior Director for Business and Product Management Support in Wickliffe, Ohio. Before that, he was the Global Director of Technology from May 2016 to September 2020, and the Manager of the Engine Oils Technology Team from May 2013 to May 2016.

Mr. Duncan began his career as a Technology Manager at BP Chemicals (Additives) in Hull, England, a position he held for ten years from September 1986 to September 1996.

His educational background includes a BSc (Hons) in Combined Science, Biology, and Chemistry from Staffordshire University (1983-1986) and a Diploma in Management Studies in Business Administration and Management from the UK Open University.

Mr. Duncan’s extensive experience in the lubricant additives industry and his strong educational foundation have equipped him with a deep understanding of both technical and managerial aspects of the business.

Eric Holthusen

Senior Advisor, Technical Development, ALIA

Eric Holthusen is a distinguished expert in the fuels and lubricants sector, bringing over 30 years of leadership experience to his role as an independent consultant. Currently, he serves as a Senior Advisor for Technical Development at the Asian Lubricants Industry Association

(ALIA) and holds the position of Director of Technology at Petrolube Group in Saudi Arabia. Mr. Holthusen began his career in the automotive industry, focusing on diesel engine development before joining Shell in 1989 as a Product Development Engineer in Hamburg, Germany. He later worked at Shell’s research center in Grand Couronne, France, developing lubricants and participating in Formula 1 fuel and lubricant projects for McLaren and Footwork-Porsche.

From 1995 to 2001, Mr. Holthusen led Shell’s product testing activities for fuels and lubricants in Hamburg, eventually overseeing engine emission and road testing departments. He then moved to Singapore in 2001 as the Managing Director of Shell Research Eastern and the Fuels Technology Manager for the region. In 2004, he transitioned to Shell’s Asia Pacific Service Centre in Kuala Lumpur, leading the regional Fuel Technology Group and managing the technical implementation of retail fuels globally.

In 2011, Mr. Holthusen joined Saudi Aramco as an advisor to their Downstream R&D organization, where he developed their technology strategy and established a global R&D network with laboratories in Europe, America, and Asia. He later served as Group Chief Technology Officer at PETRONAS Lubricants International from 2015 to 2022, overseeing business technology, global technical services, R&D, innovation, and technology commercialization.

Mr. Holthusen holds a master’s degree in automotive engineering from Hamburg University of Applied Science and has completed a business leadership program at INSEAD’s campus in Singapore. His extensive background and numerous publications on future and alternative fuels highlight his significant contributions to the industry.

Yvonne Koay

Engine Oil Deployment Manager, Lubrizol

Yvonne Koay has been working in the lubricant industry for 15 years. She graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in science, majoring in Chemistry.

Yvonne began her career in the laboratory, where she handled numerous lubricant testing and analysis tasks.

Currently based in Lubrizol Singapore, Yvonne serves as the Engine Oil Deployment Manager. Her focus areas include Passenger Car Motor Oils (PCMO), Heavy Duty Diesel Oils (HDDO), and Motorcycle Oils. Her major responsibilities encompass managing technical projects, providing technical service support, and leading routine technical training sessions for Lubrizol’s customers in Korea, Taiwan, and Indonesia.

Yvonne’s extensive experience and expertise in engine oils make her an essential part of Lubrizol’s technical team, where she plays a crucial role in ensuring product performance and customer satisfaction.

Serena Yei

 Serena Yei has been with Lubrizol Singapore since 2008, starting her career in the lubricant industry after working in a technical sales position with a multinational chemical company serving the electronic industry.
At Lubrizol, Serena has built her expertise in driveline lubricant applications, working closely with customers on OEM projects and new product developments. She also conducts product training and shares market trends through customer seminars across the Southeast Asia and Australia/New Zealand regions.

Serena holds a degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Chemistry from Louisiana State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Bradford. Her comprehensive background and dedication to customer education and market insights make her a valuable asset to Lubrizol.

Uday Kumar

Industrial Managing Director, PETRONAS Lubricants International

Uday Kumar serves as the Industrial Managing Director at PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI), where he leads a global team focused on developing and implementing key business strategies for industrial lubricants.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering and brings over three decades of international business management experience in B2B operations, sales, and marketing.

Mr. Kumar specializes in industrial lubricants for heavy sectors, with a particular emphasis on mining and general manufacturing. His extensive expertise also covers automotive lubricants, maintenance, and the aftermarket segment, making him a seasoned veteran in the lubricant industry. His leadership and strategic vision continue to drive innovation and growth at PETRONAS Lubricants International.

Rita Chee

Metalworking Product Manager, Lubrizol

Rita Chee is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in the lubricant industry. Throughout her career, she has worked with major global lubricants manufacturers, holding various sales management and technical positions.

In 2014, Ms. Chee joined Lubrizol as the Metalworking Product Manager. In this role, she oversees the growth of metalworking additives across Southeast Asia, Australia/New Zealand, and Taiwan. She has introduced innovative Tech Clinics to assist customers in addressing challenging application concerns related to their products.

Her extensive background and expertise in the industry make her a key figure at Lubrizol, contributing significantly to the company’s success in the metalworking segment.
