Al Taher Group subsidiary to enter Omani fuel retail market
Tammuz, a subsidiary of Al Taher Group in Oman, hopes to become the fourth major player in the Omani fuel retail market by opening four retail stations in the capital city of Muscat this year.
According to a source in the group, construction on the first station, which will be across from the Muscat International Airport, is 75% complete and will be open in a couple of months. Besides simply offering fuel retail, Tammuz plans to offer allied services, such as car maintenance and ATM services.
Oman currently has three main players in fuel retail: Al Maha, Omanoil and Shell Oman. Al Maha has nearly 200 filling stations across the country. Omanoil operates over 152 stations across the country, and Shell Oman, operated by independent Omani owners, Shell Oman Marketing Company.
Tammuz Oman Petroleum has been licensed to sell oil in Oman since 2004. It focuses on the downstream sector, especially retail.
