Ukraine postpones switch to Euro 4

Ukraine’s State Committee for Technical Regulation and Consumer Policy has delayed the implementation of higher quality petrol and diesel fuel standards, which were supposed to kick in by January 1, 2011, the Ukrainian National News Agency reported. Ukrainian refineries were supposed to completely switch to the DSTU 4839:2007 and DSTU 4840:2007 standards, which are in line with the Euro 4 and Euro 5 requirements. The old standards will remain in effect until July 1, 2011. No reasons were given for the delay. The refineries in Odesa, Kremenchuk (Poltava region) and Lysychansk (Luhansk region) have already confirmed their readiness to produce petrol and diesel fuel meeting the Euro 4 and Euro 5 requirements from early 2011.
