DoE revises standards for unleaded gas

The Department of Energy (DoE) has drafted a new circular setting revised Philippine National Standards (PNS) for unleaded gasoline being sold to motorists. The proposed guidelines for PNS/DoE QS 001:2009 will address concerns regarding the compatibility of E10 (10% ethanol blend) gasoline on in-use vehicles, particularly on the engine and fuel system. The standard will primarily establish a distinction between conventional gasoline (without ethanol) and ethanol-blended gasoline. (November 8, 2009)
