Nanjing to build 1st film solar cell production base

SunWell Solar, which is controlled by the Taiwan-based CMC Magnetics Corp., will create a film solar cell production base in the Nanjing New & High Technology Industry Development Zone, following an investment agreement both sides inked lately. As the first of its kind in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, east China, the film solar cell project is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 300MW by 2015, with a total investment of US$600 million. Compared with other traditional counterparts, the film solar cell can save silicon materials by 98%. Furthermore, it can be used for the building industry, for instance, for the production of dynamoelectric glass curtain walls. (February 1, 2010)
