BPH Migas awards rights to sell subsidized fuel to AKR and Surya Parna
BPH Migas, Indonesia’s downstream oil and gas regulator, has authorized publicly-listed PT AKR Corporindo (AKR) and PT Surya Parna Niaga to distribute subsidized fuels in 2013 outside of Java and Bali, supplementing state-run oil and gas firm PT Pertamina. The commitment and determination of the two firms to expand their infrastructure outside of Java, including Kalimantan and Sumatra, won them the award, according to BPH Migas Head Andy Noorsaman Sommeng. The award will be submitted to the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and Finance Ministry for final approval.
AKR is Indonesia’s private petroleum and chemical distributor operating a network of 31 gas stations across the country. AKR will be given an increased quota of 267,892 kiloliters of subsidized fuel, including premium gasoline, for 2013, which is 160% higher than its quota this year. Surya Parna Niaga, a subsidiary of the Parna Raya Group, will receive a quota of around 600,000 kiloliters of subsidized diesel fuel, to be distributed exclusively to fishermen.
The government and the House of Representatives had revised the country’s subsidized fuel quota to 46 million kiloliters for 2013, higher than the 40 million kiloliters quota in 2012 (which was later revised to 41 million kiloliters). Out of the 2013 quota for subsidized fuel, Pertamina will distribute around 45.01 million kiloliters; the rest will be distributed by AKR and Surya Parna. (November 23, 2012)
