HPCL says it will commission Rajasthan refinery ahead of Ratnagiri

Indian refining and marketing major, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) said it will fast-track its Rajasthan refinery which is a joint venture with Indian multinational oil and gas company, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC). The refinery will have a nine million ton capacity. HPCL originally intended to commission the Ratnagiri facility (also called the Maharashtra refinery), ahead of Rajasthan, but the latter will be a more significant addition to the other refineries owned by the company, some of which are scheduled to double their capacities to meet rising demand.
The oil major will be reviving its mega petrochemical-cum-refinery project at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. And if things go according to plan, the refinery’s output post-2025 will be more than 90 metric tons in the next 15 years. (November 20, 2012)
