Toyota recalls several models for corrective measures

Owners of Toyota models of Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Vios and Yaris produced from 2006 to 2010 are being called upon by Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMPC) to bring their cars to dealers who will take corrective measures on the power window master switch that has been found to be faulty. This is in line with the company’s global recall of more than 7.4 million vehicles.
TMPC Vice President for Corporate Affairs Roque Rommel Gutierrez said that the company will conduct a special service campaign advising affected customers to bring their cars to dealers for application of specialized grease in the power window master switch of their vehicles. The faulty mechanism could potentially cause fire, though there have been no reports of such; there is however, at least one case of smoke coming from a window switch in the United States, Gutierrez said. Around 22,000 units are affected by the recall in the Philippines. He added that the recall is not expected to have an effect on the firm’s car sales performance. (October 12, 2012)
