S. Korea’s EN3 Green Energy to produce bioethanol

South Korea’s EN3 Green Energy Co. Ltd plans to produce bioethanol using cassava root as the basic material in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. EN3 already has three factories in Gowa and Takalar producing cassava chips and tapioca flour exported to Japan, the Indonesian Cassava Community said. Marwah Daud Ibrahim, the chairperson of the community, said the three factories will produce bioethanol in two to three years until the basic material is sufficiently available. The factories will have an annual production capacity of 60,000 kiloliters each, Marwah said, adding the factories will need 360,000 tons of cassava roots a year. The company has spent US$133 million on the three factories, the newspaper Investor Daily said. (April 13, 2010)
