Lack of stocks cause drop in Philippine vehicle sales
Car sales in the Philippines dropped 11% in May from the same month a year ago to 10,913 units due to lack of stocks, according to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI). The March earthquake and tsunami in Japan crippled vehicle production which affected global car supply. Preliminary report showed that Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. held the top market share with sales of 3,117 units. Toyota Motor Philippines and Honda Cars Philippines Inc. followed with 3,017 and 1,115 units, respectively. (June 9, 2011)
