Bosch repositions itself to target global markets
Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Ltd. (RBEI), a fully-owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH, announced that its India operations will now function as a “global center” for powertrain electronics for the Bosch Group’s global operations. Of the 5,500 engineers that Bosch employed in developing powertrain technologies in Germany and India, about 2,000 were at RBEI. RBEI, which currently employs 7,000 persons at its two units, plans to recruit 800 engineers with domain expertise in powertrain electronics in 2011 and 2012, plus 900 more engineers for its other operations. Of this, about 60% will be fresh graduates; the remaining recruits will be experienced personnel. The company, which was earlier focused on the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) markets, plans to invest Rs 300 crore (US$66 million), mainly for land, infrastructure and machinery and will now produce powertrain components for the global market.
