South Korea’s refinery turnarounds to peak in Q2

South Korea’s 2010 refinery maintenance program, which will start in early March, is scheduled to peak in the second half of the month, when about 12% of the country’s 2.835 million barrels per day of refining capacity is shut, a survey of South Korean refiners showed. In 2009, turnarounds in South Korea peaked in the first half of June, when 15% of the refining capacity was off-line. This year, six crude distillation units, of the 16 in the country, are scheduled to be shut for turnarounds, compared to four units in 2009. The turnaround program will end in July this year.
