Lanka IOC launches Euro lll-equivalent 91 RON gasoline

The Sri Lankan fuel retailing company, Lanka IOC, introduced Euro III-equivalent 91 RON gasoline in the domestic market last October. The move is in line with the company’s marketing strategy which expects new car owners to switch to Euro lll-equivalent gasoline, from Euro II. Lanka IOC had been importing 90 RON and 95 RON gasoline regularly and this is the first time that the fuel retailer is importing 91 RON gasoline. Another fuel retailer, state-owned Ceylon Petroleum Corp. (Ceypetco) also imports 90 RON and 92 RON gasoline. Ceypetco owns the 50,000 barrel per day Sapugaskanda refinery at Kelaniya. A company spokesperson said the firm still does not market Euro lll-equivalent gasoline. (October 6, 2011)
