BMW India raises annual output
BMW AG’s India unit announced it has increased production capacity at its factory in Chennai to 11,000 vehicles annually, up from 10,000 units. “India is witnessing dynamic growth,” said BMW India President Andreas Schaaf. “In BMW, production always follows demand and we added a second shift at our factory earlier this year to meet the demand,” he added. BMW India will invest a total of INR700 million (US$15.1 million) till December 2011 to boost operations. (August 25, 2011)
