Japan’s power generation sector to diversify away from nuclear power

In light of continued problems and concerns about Japan’s nuclear power industry, the the country is looking at adding new hydro and fossil fuel-fired facilities. In the next couple of years, Japan will be adding gas-fired units and hydro units to the power grid. Tokyo Electric, Kansai Electric, Chubu Electric, Kyushu Electric, Tohoku Electric, Chugoku Electric, Shikoku Electric, Hokkaido Electric and Hokuriku Electric all have plans to add additional facilities in the future.
