Chemtura to further boost capacity of high viscosity PAOs
Chemtura Corp. said it will boost output of its Synton® line of high viscosity polyalphaolefin (HVPAO) synthetic basestocks by adding capacity in Europe. Sean O’Connor, president and general manager of Petroleum Additives said, “Chemtura is increasing capacity and establishing a European manufacturing capability for HVPAO in order to meet the increasing global demand for these products and locate production capacity in a region of significant demand growth.” By 2013, Chemtura will be able to produce Synton 40 and Synton 100 in Ankerweg, Amsterdam. Production volume was not stated. Earlier this year, Chemtura expanded capacity for these products in Elmira, Ontario, Canada. Synton products are used as high performance basestocks and viscosity improvers in synthetic lubricant formulations like gear oils and engine oils. (July 28,2011)
