DOE to issue guidelines on ethanol importation

The Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) is set to issue guidelines for the importation of ethanol. Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras said he has yet to assess the impact of the importation on domestic oil prices, as such will depend on the level of tariff on ethanol imports. The DOE has yet to determine the appropriate benchmark for the tariff on ethanol, he said. Almendras said that all industry stakeholders would be consulted on all issues relating to the ethanol tariff. (August 21, 2010)
