Gull beats big players to meet biofuel target
Australias oil industry minnow Gull Petroleum has laid down the gauntlet to its large competitors by declaring itself just days away from meeting a proposed mandatory sales obligation for biofuels. “Gull is showing it can be done and we are confident enough sustainable produced biofuels can be obtained from New Zealand and overseas to meet the biofuels obligation,” said Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority Spokeswoman Janice Rodenburg. Gull had announced that it had sold enough biofuels to meet the first-year sales obligation of 0.53%, had this already been in place. (May 14/15, 2008)
