Thai olefin capacity may double by 2011

PTT Aromatics and Refining P.L.C. (PTTAR) is currently focused on increasing the competitiveness of its oil refining and aromatics production. The company said it has spent more than US$500 million to upgrade its existing facilities in Thailand. If ongoing and proposed olefin projects are finished by 2011, the company can help Thailand’s ethylene production capacity increase by 2.9 million tons per year (tpy) to 5.33 tpy. (February 19, 2009)
