Scania sets up delivery center in Taiwan
Swedish heavy truck and bus manufacturer Scania AB, via its local subsidiary Griffin Automotive Ltd., has set up a new delivery center in Taoyuan County, Taiwan. The center has a capacity of 500 vehicles per year. Scania said it expects to invest more than NT$100 million (US$2.91 million) and employ between 20 and 30 workers at the delivery center. In the future, it would focus on meeting local demand and may supply its vehicles to China, but not soon because of the dominance of less costly vehicles in the Chinese market. Scania’s vehicles are 5 to 10% more expensive than its European competitors and cost between 10 and 20% more than its Japanese counterparts, which Scania claims is due to its vehicles’ high fuel efficiency and durability.
