Labland to build biodiesel plant in Mysore
Labland Biotech Pvt Ltd. of Mysore, India, has announced plans to set up a biodiesel refinery in the city by the end of 2008. Plant capacity is 50 tons per day, subject to the availability of jatropha feedstock. The company says that it requires a jatropha plantation of at least 5,000 acres to supply the refinery. It has signed a contract with the government of Gujarat for the cultivation of 220 acres. It has also signed similar agreements with the government of Bihar and the Karnataka Backward Classes Development Corporation. (September 3, 2007)
