Sasol weighing 80,000 bpd fuel plant in S. Africa
Sasol, the world’s biggest maker of fuel from coal, has launched preliminary feasibility studies on an 80,000-barrel-per-day coal-to-liquids facility in South Africa. The company has held informal discussions with the country’s government over the project. No details or time frame were given for the project. Sasol said it would spend about 45 billion rand (US$6.23 billion) on capital expenditure projects over the three financial years to 2009. (December 13, 2006)
