China's ethanol policy being reviewed by State Council

Policies regulating development of China’s ethanol industry have been submitted to the State Council for approval, according to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Xiong Bilin, vice director of the NDRC’s department of industry, predicted that E10, a mixture of 10% ethanol and 90% gasoline, could account for more than half of China’s gasoline consumption by 2010. Current ethanol consumption is 1.02 million tons. (November 24, 2006)
