Simbhaoli commissions ethanol plant

Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd., based in New Delhi, India, announced the commissioning of its new ethanol plant at Chilwaria,  in Uttar Pradesh. The project was completed at a cost of more than Rs25 crores (US$5.51 million) in a record time of nine months. The molasses-based ethanol plant with an installed capacity of 60,000 liters per day is adjacent to Simbhaolis sugar plant. G. S. Mann, chairman and managing director, says the company plans to scale up its total ethanol production capacity from 150,000 liters per day to 180,000 liters per day with the streaming of its Brijnathpur facility in March 2007. The company supplies ethanol to oil majors such as Indian Oil Corp. and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. (October 5, 2006)
