Biodiesel investments reach Rp12.47 trillion

Jakarta, Indonesia-based Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has approved at least 49 companies making a total investment of Rp12.47 trillion (US$1.3 billion) in the biodiesel processing sector, and a total potential production volume of 96.49 million tons. Only a few of these companies, however, have realized their plans. These delays in investment realization are caused by the recent price increases of crude palm oil (CPO), which is the raw material for these biodiesel projects. (July 10, 2007)
