Daihatsu to use Mira e:S technology in Move and Tanto series
The fuel-conserving technology that Daihatsu Motor Co. used in the Mira e:S mini vehicle will also be used in the company’s Move and Tanto series. The low-priced Mira e:S runs on 30 km a liter of fuel and is considered to have the best fuel economy among gasoline-powered vehicles. Daihatsu received 25,000 orders for the Mira e:S during the two weeks following its launch, and about 40,000 in the first month. The actual orders were much higher than Daihatsu’s projected 10,000 units a month. The company will release the fuel efficient Move by the end of this year, and the fuel efficient Tanto will be released in March 2012. The two vehicles will have the same engine and no-idling function that was used in the Mira e:S. The Mira e:S engine has a highly efficient combustion and stops before the car does. Due to the early success of the Mira e:S, Daihatsu raised its forecast by 40,000 units to 590,000 for 2011. (November 5, 2011)
