Shell builds world’s largest grease plant in China

Royal Dutch Shell PLC said that it has started construction at a new grease manufacturing plant in China as it aims to reinforce its position as the top international supplier of lubricants in Asia. The facility in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, alongside an existing Shell lube blending plant, will make greases for passenger cars and industrial bearings. It will be Shell’s largest grease manufacturing facility globally, and will have the potential for future expansion up to 40,000 tons a year, Shell said in a statement. “This is a major step forward to expand our lubricants capacity in China with local manufacturing, supply as well as technical service and cooperation,” said Lim Haw-Kuang, executive chairman of Shell Companies in China.
